RaleighNC.jpgRaleigh, North Carolina is one of the friendliest and fastest growing areas in the country, and there are plenty of reasons why. This ever-growing capital city is a hotbed for more than just population growth and Southern charm.

Raleigh is just a few short miles from Raleigh-Durham International Airport, and by 2008 had 123 city parks, 8 public swimming pools and more than 9,000 acres of park and greenways, three large hospitals (Rex, Wake Medical Center and Duke Health Raleigh Hospital), nine public libraries, 120 hotels, 250+ places of worship and 150 financial institution locations! Raleigh houses multiple higher education institutions including Meredith College, Wake Technical Community College, North Carolina State University, William Peace University, and several others.

In the past few years, Raleigh has undergone a downtown revitalization project that continues today with new businesses, road improvements, new home communities, parks and so much more! This revitalization drew over 15.6 million visitors in 2016 and its major draw to newcomers to want to make it their home.

In 1792, Raleigh was created to be North Carolina's capital and named after Sir Walter Raleigh. Raleigh is home to the Native American Iroquoian, Siouan and Algoquian tribes, and North Carolina is one of the original 13 colonies. Our fine state was the first to officially call for independence with the Halifax Resolves in 1776.

Raleigh's rich history and drive for improvement are a point of pride for the North Carolina-born residents and the transplants, alike. Find out for yourself why so many wonderful people call Raleigh their home.
